Amy Perron

( Program co-ordinator and Lead instructor)

Having graduated from Carrefour High school in 2000 Amy is completely bilingual and holds a

degree in Psychology from Dalhousie University. While in university Amy was introduced to the

study of human and animal behavior, which included the theories of operant conditioning

and insights into the relationships between animals and their environment. When her sister

Danielle was given a Tri-colored Australian Shepherd puppy, Journey,  for her birthday.

Amy was excited at the opportunity to put her knowledge and understanding of the techniques

of operant conditioning  and positive reinforcement to use on a daily basis. Amy also helped her

mother work with the family’s second dog, Stryder, who was rescued from Bideawhile animal

shelter in Dartmouth. The third dog in Amy's life is a rescued  Red Merle Australian Shepherd

named Canyon.  Since being adopted by Amy and Sean, Canyon has grown into a great family     Amy, Canyon, Journey, and Stryder

companion and is now competing in the sport of agility! In 2006 Amy  purchased a  Blue Merle Border Collie named Surf and competes regularly in agility with her.

Amy is always looking for ways to maintain and improve on her skills as an instructor. She has attended seminars on dog aggression and agility training techniques and has combined that

knowledge with her psychology  background to co-write many of the articles and exercise books that Van tassel's Canine Services discusses and hands out to it's customers.

Amy truly enjoys teaching and looks forward to meeting you and your dog.
